Distribution of the Mastodonts in Slovenia
In Slovenia, there are some mastodon finds that belong to the extinct representatives of proboscidea. They were discovered in Miocene, Pliocene and Pleistocene sediments in the middle of 19th century. The remains were classified into the bunodont and zygodont development stage. The article describes three mastodon molars found by the residents of the Čentibske gorice, Ljutomerske gorice and Goričko while working in the field. Regarding the specialization stage of teeth the authors have classified the molars to the Upper Pliocene. They belong to the species Anancus arvernensis.
