Tectonostratigraphic Units and Terranes Between the Adriatic Sea and the Southern Pannonian Basin
In the area between the Adriatic Sea and the Southern Pannonian Basin, coverin mainly the northwestern and central Dinarides, seven terranes and/or units are indetified which can be grouped into three megaunits: 1) The Supradinaricum (internal Dinarides) composite terrane which includes five terranes and/or units which originated in the basinal parts of the Mesososic Thetys; 2) The Adriatic-Dinaric carbonate platform (the external Dinarides), genetically related to the Tethyan southern (passive) margin; 3) The Banija-Central Bosnia unit, located between the two above mantioned terranes, represents the southeastern extension of the Sava nape, i.e. the Southern Alps.
