The implementation of enhanced oil recovery processes

When the production by natural depletion and by waterflooding is declining and new discoveries are smaller in size, the implementation of enhanced oil recovery processes would be the contribution to oil production. The implementation of enhanced oil recovery methods requires the detailed analysis of the reservoir and of its performance, preselection of recovery methods, study of preselected processes, pilot tests, optimization of operational parameters and the final project. For a given enhanced oil recovery method and the type of reservoir present, a project may prove to be profitable in a certain place at a certain time, or negative in another area and in different economic and political situation. Hence, no general rules exist, each case is a specific one, and requires a separate techno-economic analysis. This paper presents the probability of implementation of enhanced oil recovery processes, and according to the mentioned above, some examples of enhanced oil recovery simulation on specific reservoirs in Republic of Croatia.
