Lithostratigraphic Correlation of the Selected Jurassic Carbonate Successions in Western Croatia
Lithostratigraphic correlation of the Jurassic carbonate sedimentary successions from different localities of western Croatia showed that the platform sedimentary events, during the same time intervals of Jurassic period, were partially identical with and partially different from each other. The existence of identical sedimentary events was a consequence of uniform sedimentary conditions that existed over the wide platform realm. Along with the changes of eustatic sea-level, sedimentary conditions in all environmentaly identical parts of the platform were simultaneously changed. That way, on the various platform parts, sedimentary signatures of those changes were identical. The existence of various sedimentary events on various parts of western Croatian area was a consequence of temporary environmental changes caused by local tectonic movements of varied intensity. These movements disturbed eustatic sedimentary signature that was simultaneously formed on adjacent tectonically undisturbed platform parts. In that way, either monotonous sedimentary successions or hiatuses were formed on the tectonically influenced platform parts.
