Sulphur isotope and fluid inclusion data of barites from the Dinarides
Barite deposits of the Dinarides occur within a Paleozoic and Triassic nappe. Barites, genetically related to Upper Paleozoic rhyolites, are characterized by δ 34S +10.37 and with 3.62% SrSO4. Barites related to the Triassic Alpine rift magmatism have δ 34S +21.40 and 2.46% SrSO4. A fluid inclusion study of Variscan barite deposits proved the coexistence of Variscan, post-Variscan and Late Alpidic fluids in different proportions. Post-Variscan fluids are homogenous over thw whole Dinarides. similar characteristic features have been found in central and western Europe. Triassic barite deposits are characterized by low homogenization temperature and low salinity.
