Children's Geo-workshops in Geoconservation Programme - new approach for better understanding of geological heritage

Geo-workshops for children in primary and secondary schools have been organized for several times as special activity of the ProGEO Group of the Croatian Geological Society. Since May 1999 the Croatian Geological Society has been granted a financial support for the project “Geosites / geoparks - a list and database” by the State Office for non-governmental organizations. Three field geo-workshops and one indoor have been successfully organized by now. The basic concept of the geo-workshops was to show professional methods of exploration or to give knowledge about planet Earth through fun and entertainment. Participation in geo-workshops will, hopefully, result in growing awareness of the valuable geological heritage in Croatia and extending knowledge about our dynamic planet Earth.
