What Are the Perspectives of Metković and Ploče Port (Croatia) with Reference to New Geostrategic Division in Southeastern Europe?
This paper deals with the problems of the south-Croatian ports Metković and Ploče. These ports developed for the needs of their hinterland - Bosnia and Herzegovina, but eventually they became important for a part of the Middle and Eastern Europe, because in this area there is the road corridor Vc that passes through Neretva and Bosna valley to Panonian Plain. These ports had excellent results until 1990 when new states were created, among which were Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the war, transport reached its lowest poing and it still hasn't been revived. The major problem is that Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina still haven't regulated their mutual legal agreements about using the ports. Another problem is that the situation in this area is still relatively unstable. When these problems are solved these ports will restore their functions and become inportant not only for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for a part of the Middle and Eastern Europe.
