Competitiveness as a process – Concurrence comme proces
According to the generally agreed definition, the competitiveness of a country is its ability to, under free and fair market conditions, produce goods and service that meet the test of international markets while simultaneously maintaining and expanding the real incomes of its people over long term. A country’s competitiveness in global market conditions is reflected in the price-quality ratio. Within the research project ‘Development of the Economic Competitiveness of Croatia as a Member of the EU’, a group of experts and scientists analysed the ability of a country to provide free, fair and encouraging conditions to its producers of goods and services intended for the global market and the ability of these producers to adapt to the modern global market demands within these conditions (not necessarily ideal). After the project’s first book entitled ‘The Development of the Economic Competitiveness of Croatia as a Member of the EU’, published by the Faculty of Economics, University of Rijeka (December 2015), which was warmly welcomed in our professional community, here is our second, eagerly awaited book ‘Competitiveness as a Process’/‘Concurrence comme proces’. We hope that the findings and conclusions of this book will contribute to enhancing the awareness of all political, economic and social structures within our society of the need to increase the competitiveness of our exporters in the short term in order to achieve a consequent rise in exports in the international market in the medium term.
