Experimental investigation of tram track vibrations
A tram vehicles running on a track causes vibrations in tram track structure as well as in the neighboring ground. Vibrations are particularly emphasized at track intersections where a given number of track switches and crossings are integrated. This paper presents the results of study of two types of tram constructions, with discrete support (standard type of tram track in Zagreb) and continuous rail support (first time implementation in Zagreb 2006). Investigation measurements (ground vibration intensity and rail acceleration) were started at the test site. Due to the better results of the continuous rails installations, it has been decided that the reconstruction of the Jurisiceva-Draskoviceva intersection be carried out using this system. In order to verify the effect of applied technical solution, the vibration measurements were performed in situ before and after reconstruction.
