ROLE OF COMMUNICATION-BASED TRAIN CONTROL (CBTC) SYSTEMS FROM THE ASPECT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
This article shows an overview of railway signalisation development ranging from mechanical devices to improved communication-based train control (CBTC), emphasising the differences, benefits and challenges regarding the constantly improved designs that guarantee higher safety. The basic traffic principles are described here in interstation spacing which uses the method of fixed block for safe identification of the presence and separation between trains, and gives a brief overview of the efficiency level of the established CBTC compared to the overcoming of the basic limitations of conventional signalisation system.
