The analysis of human exposure to whole-body vibration in the steering cabine of the bulk cargo ship unloader
Standard ISO 2631-1:1997 analyzes human body exposure to vibrations and its influence to the human health, containing various requirements on exposure limitations. Important parameters are time of exposure and weighted acceleration. For this reason, on the requirement of Rijeka port authorities, measurements of the vibrations in the steering cabin of the bulk cargo ship unloader are carried out. For the purpose of vibration measurements on the seat-surface and seat back of steering chair a special device, prescribed by standard ISO 10326:1992, was designed. The average effective vibration acceleration in the frequency range from 1 to 80 Hz is measured. Furthermore, the whole measured frequency range is divided into 6 full and one 2/3 octave and for every 1/3 octave the average effective acceleration is calculated. After octave weighting the total weighted average effective acceleration is calculated. Finally, the working point in the diagram of dangerous zones for the human health is determined.
