The testing targets were developed for the application of characterizing the image quality produced by digital cameras and digital imaging workflows, used in cultural heritage institutions to create archival quality digital master images of paintings. Three different painting techniqes were included: oil, qouache and distemper. The results showed that the differences in the colorants (pigments) used may contribute to the color difference. The results also showed that using camera RAW format give better match with original than JPEG format.
