Theoretical and FE analysis of Contact Stresses at Upsetting of Prismatic Specimen by Cylindrical Dies
The knowledge of the stress and strain components within the workpiece volume in metal forming is essential for successful design of such process, including the determination of the forming load required for deformation of the material and prediction of ductile fracture initiation. To this end, different theoretical, numerical and experimental methods are applied. In this paper results of contact stress analysis in the process of upsetting of prismatic specimen by cylindrical dies are presented. The analysis of this process has been performed by slab method and Finite Element Method (FEM).
