Social dialog development in the Croatian sea port sector
Traffic increase and structural transformation of Croatian sea ports have created a good foundation for a high quality and coherent social dialogue. Social dialogue directly affects the quality, productivity and cost of the port service, acting as a platform for determining pricing and working conditions. In order to establish good social dialog that will satisfy all parties, i.e. representatives of government, employers and trade unions, all of these parties must participate. In January 1994, as the result of an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Trade Unions and Employers, a tripartite Croatian Economic-Social Council was established. This agreement had a positive impact on the international position of the Republic of Croatia. However, Croatia must continue to strive to gradually adopt the European social model and promote high standards in social politics as well as the social dialogue in the port industry. In this paper, the development of social dialogue in Croatia will be analysed with the reference to the social dialogue trends in the EU sea port sector development.
