On the EU FP7 Project: Tools for ultra large container ships - TULCS

Recent increase of the container sea trade and building of ultra large container ships are pointed out. Design and construction of such huge ships with large deck openings and high speed are at the margin of Classification Rules. EU FP7 project Tools for Ultra Large Container Ships for development of the integrated design tools, based on numerical procedures, model tests and full scale measurements, is described. Also, overview of the related International Workshop on Springing and Whipping of Ships, organized in the middle of the project as a milestone, is given.
