Structural Optimization with Frequency Constraint of the Reinforced Concrete Columns of the Spring Mounted Turbine Generator Foundation
In the paper an efficient method to find optimal design of reinforced concrete columns of the spring mounted turbine generator foundation, subjected to rotating machinery dynamic loads is presented. According to thorough finite element analysis it is observed that columns can be successfully modeled separately, what approves the application of simplified, analytical column models. The design objective is to avoid resonance of the first two natural frequencies of foundation columns with the first harmonic excitation of the generator, while design variables are dimensions of columns cross section. The results of the analyzed example show that the optimization was successfully performed, since optimized dimensions of columns give natural frequencies out of the critical frequency range.
