OPTIMIZATION OF RAILWAY TRAFFIC ON VARAŽDIN–GOLUBOVEC RAILWAY LINE

In today’s economy, railway transport is certainly the backbone of the transport system. However, despite the proven role in the transport system there is often a debate about the suspension of regional and local railways. As a rule, these debates have no foundation in the technical and technological principles, but rather the decision is reduced to the political moment. By using simulation models, different variants of organizing traffic can be tested in an effective and efficient manner and in a relatively short period of time, and thus allow finding of the optimal solution. Therefore, it is necessary to collect relevant data to build the model and propose alternative solutions. This paper proposes three models of simulation situations on the Varaždin – Golubovec line which are then evaluated through the simulation results based on each particular variant and the results among the simulations themselves.
