Influence of Smagorinsky closure coefficient on flame properties in large eddy simulation of turbulent premixed combustion
In this work two large eddy simulations (LES) of turbulent premixed combustion of highly stretched flames were performed, each one with different approach for Smagorinsky model coefficient Cs. First approach is with a constant value of Cs=0.2 and second approach is with varying Cs, according to coherent structure method (CSM), introduced by Kobayashi in 2005. Results were validated against experimental data for flame F2 of Chen et al. The results of mean reaction progress variable and velocity are reasonably matching the experiment, while RMS values showing significant discrepancies, especially the case with Cs=0.2.
