Analysis of quality indicators of seaport ferry services and seaport intermodality connections: case study Croatia
Seaports are by definition interfaces between different modes of transport (water, road or railway), i.e., they represent axles of intermodal transport and must ensure safe and quick transfer of goods and passengers while minimizing transfer costs. Ferry connections (line frequency, number of destinations) and the quality of land connections are important for passengers and drivers arriving to and leaving the port. The service level provided at the port and its surroundings (sanitary facilities, bank, tourist office, public transportation, customs, etc.) and generalized costs, i.e., fare and time, are all relevant to passenger satisfaction. Quality indicators of Croatian ferry ports - intermodal connections, service level and quality - are analysed in this paper. Croatian ferry seaports are classified into groups according to their technical efficiency. The paper also presents the results of an EU funded project.
