ANNEALING INFLUENCE ON GRAIN SIZE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES IN LOW CARBON STEELS
In the present study low carbon steel samples were processed by various annealing temperatures and holding times. Annealing temperatures and holding times were chosen in accordance with the central composite design of experiments. Annealing temperatures were chosen within interval 300 to 1000 °C and limits of holding times varied from 60 to 240 minutes. In order to determine the influence of annealing process on the grain size and mechanical properties, after annealing all samples were prepared for metallographic and hardness examination. The results indicated that the grain size increases with increasing annealing temperature and holding time. The opposite was noticed in the hardness behaviour, namely hardness decreases with increasing both annealing temperature and holding time
