ENERGY-EFFICIENT DRIVE OF TRAINS
Since the transport of people and goods transport has a significant share of energy consumption that is a long period present necessity of reducing the unit energy consumption. The need is due to the reduction of transport costs and the environmental emissions of pollutants and carbon dioxide as a significant factor in creating a greenhouse effect. Transportation by rail is an economical form of transportation than by road and air. However, analysis of energy consumption in transport by rail shows space for further reduction. Therefore, for a long time at the level of national rail and union conduct research and projects aimed at improving transportation from views of reducing energy consumption and environmental pollution. One of the aspects of a possible reduction in energy consumption is the implementation of appropriate ways of driving trains, so-called energy-efficient or energy-saving drive. This paper analyzes the elements of an energy efficiency drive that can be applied within a defined timetable, and estimated time of travel on certain routes. Within the available reserve time in the timetable opens up space for the application of defined elements that contribute to the reduction of energy consumption. This is primarily related to the higher proportion of coasting, application of electric brake with energy recovery and greater representation regime tractive vehicles in the optimal range of tractive characteristic, or in the area of maximum efficiency. It points to the development of computer programs aimed at determining the energy-efficient way of driving trains that need in an appropriate manner recommend train drivers their implementation. Finally, these programs will allow automatic remote control trains, which would achieve the highest level of energy efficiency and full implemented timetable. Conducted calculations give the example of the influence of the driving mode on energy consumption and driving time. For specific train and a certain track sections analyze the impact of coasting compared to other regimes driving.
