Modeling of Ductile Damage in a Two-Scale Computational Approach
The standard numerical methods cannot adequately capture damage responses in duc-tile heterogeneous materials. In this research attention has been directed to the investi-gation of relations between macroscopic behavior and the strain localization at the mi-crostructural level. The second-order computational homogenization is employed on the microstructural scale, while the macrostructure is discretized by the C1 continuity finite elements employing nonlocal continuum theory. All algorithms derived are em-bedded into the FE software ABAQUS and verified by the benchmark examples.
