The management of information systems in catering and tourism
In this paper, the results of researches on developing the management of information systems (IS) in catering and tourism are presented. It is supposed that managing of IS includes planning, organization, staff issues and control. As information technologies (IT) are the elements of IS, and in the application development they go through the phases of isolation, monopoly expansion, economy, and information economy, a comparative review of that development in the world and in the observed catering and touristic enterprises is given. This research covers the period 1971-1997. The research sample included catering and touristic enterprises from the Istrian County, the most developed touristic region in the Republic of Croatia.
