Mediterranean region development management : model approach
It is evident that, so far, a scientific approach to the regional development management issues has been a regional development management of the national economy, and not such a regional management policy which would consider the region as a specific, an extremly complex and an open socio-economic system. This paper favours and emphasizes the latter alternative. First and foremost, the principles of the integrated regional development management policy should be stated and this paper emphasies an urgent and adequate support of such a development management model. Although at a global, highly-aggregated structure level, this paper presents a dynamic regional simulation model - system dynamic model of the Split-Dalmatia County (SDSM-SDC). In this particular case, its Mediterranean component is pointed out as well as the ability to examine the possible effects of the Mediterranean development concept on the development of the Croatian Mediterranean region, based on a detailed elaboration of this model, and on the scenario analysis of the projected development.
