The Role of Knowledge and Technology in Transition Economies
Globalisation is an inevitable process in the 21st Century, and so is the cross-culturalization of technology. The development priorities of developing/transition countries include income growth, raising investment and exports, creating more and better employment opportunities, and benefiting from technological progress. This paper empirically attempts to: 1) identify importance the role of new market, knowledge and technology in the growth and “wealth” of nations in the 21st Century, 2) recognize the globalization of business and technology occurring at the present time and the direct/indirect impact of this globalization on competition, 3) better understand the concept of hyper-competition and how this dramatic change in the competitive structure of business/technology will impact entrepreneurs, 4) gain an appreciation of the role of government, high education, and business in expanding, creating/stimulating the knowledge environment necessary to stimulate economic growth and prosperity in the Croatia.
