Electrical and thermal properties of Fe1.35Ge
Crystal structure determination and refinement of the phase of Fe1.35Ge reveal its incommensurate modulation due to the ordering of vacancies originated from off-stoichiometry [1]. Transport measurements were done on 1 mm3 large single crystals. A study reveals that the not fully periodic structure represents an obstacle for the smooth flow of electricity and heat. Resistivity shows metallic trend, from room temperature down to liquid He temperatures, but changes only by 6 %. With increasing pressure, the variation of ρ drops to only 4%. The thermal conductivity of F1.35Ge is low in comparison to standard metals, and shows a temperature behaviour similar to one of quasicrystals and other complex metallic alloys. Research was conducted in part within EU C-MetAC centre (http://eucmac.eu). [1] J. Jaćimović, P. Popčević, A. Arakcheeva, P. Pattison, A. Pisoni, S. Katrych, K. Prša, H. Berger, A. Smontara, and L.
