Exposure distribution to benzo-a-pyrene in Zagreb
The aim of this investigation was determination of benzo-a-pyrene (BaP) exposure distributions for four subgroups of Zagreb population. Based on concentration measurements in households and outdoors, and time budget data for population subgroups, Cartesian cross-product model was used for distribution calculation. Experimental data were fitted to theoretical distributions and goodness of fit was testet by means of Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Results show that exposure levels during summer period are lower for several orders of magnitude compared to those in winter. Comparison of winter results to the proposed guideline values show that BaP in households does not represent and environmental problem in Zagreb, although one should bear in mind that for the reson of its cancerogenic features any presence of BaP in human environment reperesent a matter of concern.
