From feudal law regulations (urbarialis regulatio) till modern cadastre – cadastre as a source for medieval history of Croatian towns
The comparative analysis of cadastral sources gives us a detailed insight into the morphological and functional development of Croatian towns in the pre-industrial phase, subsequently in their eras of intensive industrialisation, making also the basis for the reconstruction of their structure and appearance during the middle and early modern ages. In this way, the chronological comparison of these cadastral sources enables us a detailed observation of spatial growth of a town and understanding of dominant historical-geographic processes, which took place in them. The usefulness of the Franciscan cadastre in the reconstruction of medieval urban morphology will be presented on the case of Zagreb Upper Town.
