Exergy and Entropy Analysis of Adiabatic Mixing of Two Streams of Identical Ideal Gases at Different Temperatures and Environmental Pressure
This paper presents an analytical model for determining the entropy increase and exergy efficiency in adiabatic mixing of two streams of identical ideal gases of different temperatures and identical environmental pressure, which is at the same time the pressure of the mixture. The derived equations are given in a non-dimensional form with the following non-dimensional variables: ratio of thermodynamic temperatures of input streams u, mass ratio of one stream in the mixture g1 as well as the ratio of thermodynamic temperature of one input stream and environmental temperature, u1. The derived equations have been used for carrying out quantitative analysis of entropy increase and exergy efficiency for a certain selected number of values u and u1, respectively. Apart from numerical values of these parameters, shown in respective diagrams, this paper also deals with the issue of local extremes, maximum and minimum, with the entropy increase and exergy efficiency, respectively.
