Land consolidation and environmental protection
Rural area of Croatia makes more than 90% of land territory in Croatia with about 47% of total population living there. These are mostly poorly developed areas in Croatia growing even more, which affect the emigration of their population. Hence, some measures are planned for the development of rural areas, among other the land consolidation that would enlarge the economic efficiency of family rural economies, and consequently prevent the population from going away. Namely, small family economies with fragmented land are a great problem in Croatia in agricultural production. The land consolidation would solve this problem, but it should be carried out in accordance with the development plans and taking the environmental protection into account. Planned activities in the area should cause the least possible changes in the landscape in order to preserve special local characteristics.
