Rescaling Emergent Social Policies in South East Europe
The chapter discusses the fluid territorial spaces and identities of South East Europe, rendered complex by the role of international actors in ascribing to various spaces and levels the welfare roles they should play. Three social policy areas are discussed in detail: labour markets ; pensions ; and poverty and social exclusion. The text argues that emergent social policies in the region need to be understood in terms of scale as politically and socially constructed.
