Nitrogen, variety and growing season effects on grain yield and protein content in winter wheat
Influences of Nitrogen (N) fertilization (time and quantity of application) on protein content in grain and grain yield at 4 widespread winter wheat varieties were tested under field conditions on Osijek, during the four growing seasons 2000-2004. Trials were conducted by split-split-plot method in 4 replicates on the anthropogenic hypoglay hydro meliorated, in Osijek area, Croatia. Tested winter wheat widespread varieties (A) were Superzitarka, Zitarka, Monika and Srpanjka created at Agricultural Institute Osijek (main factor A). N fertilization (ammonium and nitrate form), were added in autumn, pre sowing N fertilization (sub factor B) in 4 variants increased rates (40, 70, 100 and 130 kg N ha-1) and topdressing by N (by potassium-ammonium nitrate, sub-sub factor C, for variants 0, 40, 94 and 119 kg N ha-1 - from zero to three portions). Statistical very significant differences of varieties effect (A) recorded between both, grain yield and protein content during all for growing seasons. Pre sowing N fertilization (B) has a statistical significant different impact to grain yield and protein content, like top dressing (C).
