Measurement Equivalence of the Dispositional Resistance to Change Scale
Intended to bridge the gap between the latest methodological developments and cross-cultural research, this interdisciplinary resource presents the latest strategies for analyzing cross-cultural data. Techniques are demonstrated through the use of applications that employ cross national data sets. With an emphasis on the generalized latent variable approach, internationally–prominent researchers from a variety of fields explain how the methods work, how to apply them, and how they relate to other methods presented in the book. Chapter 9, "Measurement Equivalence of the Dispositional Resistance to Change Scale", by Shaul Oreg and colleagues uses confirmatory smallest space analysis (SSA) as a complementary technique to multi-group confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA). The authors use samples from 17 countries, representing 13 languages and four continents, to validate the resistance to change scale across these nations. Each of the methods used is based on a separate set of assumptions, and each offers a separate set of advantages. Results from the two analyses serve to validate one another, and together provide strong support for the RTC scale’s structure across cultural contexts. It is recommended that future work take on similar procedures, employing distinct analytic techniques, for the validation of other constructs as well.
