WLAN & Terrorism
Discussing the issue of self-radicalization and home grown terrorism, I hold that there are two open questions: why and how does this happen? To the question why- the competent people to give answer are sociologists, communicologists, politologs and others, while to the question how this can be carried out in modern world, the answer should be given by IT experts. This paper deals with the search for the answers to these questions from IT experts and for the IT suggestions on this issue. The Internet as a successful technology which opens a new communication dimension certainly creates a space for both use and abuse of IT in modern world. This threat is growing along with the growing number of the Internet users which is best illustrated by the referent data for Europe in the past few years ; the same applies to the data referring to the SE Europe region. This analysis will primarily deal with negative aspects, manners and possibilities to notice, terrorist abuse of the Internet via wireless networks, to make forensic analysis of the evidence, and deal with them in accordance with the existing national and international legal standards.
