Health and medical informatics in Croatia

Many failures in the health care sector are the result of not having the right information at the right time, owing to a lack of technology or knowledge of how to use it. Although there are many differences between countries, the challenge is to identify common problems faced by both big and small countries, and to search for solutions for managing such problems. The aim of this article is to survey the past and current uses of information and communication technology (ICT) in the Croatian health and education sectors and see whether this provides the basis for the ‘healthy’ management of health information.
