Creating the Profile of a New Radio : Croatian Radio Case Study
The draft Audiovisual Media Services (AVMS) Directive, ready for adoption in 2007, says: "The Resolution concerning public service broadcasting reaffirmed that the fulfilment of the public service broadcasting s mission must continue to benefit from technological progress. The co-existence of private and public audiovisual media service providers is a future which distinguishes the European audiovisual media market". The Council of Europe, Committee of Ministers (200/) Recommendation states that "public service media should use "new interactive technologies" and should be "present on significant platforms", and "in view of changing user habits, public service media should be able to offer both generalist and specialised contents and services, as well as personalised and on-demand services". It seems that "PSM is still needed in the digital world", (Jakubowicz, 2007), but there is a lot of work for public radio in order to survive in this new environment and to keep its listeners in the recent trend of fragmentation and disappearance of audience
