Introduction
Complexity theory provides a unique conceptual framework of the world that can be applied in grasping its phenomena. From the perspective of various modern theories, such as organizational theories, complexity theory fulfills several diverse goals inherent in those particular theories: the goal of understanding, which is in focus of the symbolic-interpretative approach, the goals of prediction and control, which are of interest to modernism, and the philosophy of freedom and self-determination as a characteristic of the postmodern approach. Complexity may refer to a system as well as to a process. A system is complex if through interactions of its numerous constituent elements the appearance of emergence and self-organizing phenomena can be achieved.
