The Construction of Socio-Spatial Identities alongside the Schengen Border: Bordering and Border-Crossing Processes in the Croatian– Slovenian Borderlands
Marta Zorko’s chapter finishes the section examining bordering and cross-bordering processes in the Croatian-Slovenian borderlands in the last 20 years, thereby highlighting different processes of re-bordering that influenced their hardness/openness on the local and national level. The chapter aims to research how this ‘re-drawing the border’ has influenced territorial identities in the borderlands, attitudes of the local population towards the border, and cross border commuting in the researched area, also giving a future perspective regarding the Croatian admission to the EU and considering how this re-bordering process will change existing perceptions yet again in such a short period.
