Agriculture, Nature Protection and Biodiversity in SEE Countries - Strengths and Weaknesses
Understanding positive and negative effects of agriculture and nature protection on biodiversity is important for future planning of particular area. As researches pointed out at the beginning of the 21th century, agricultural intensification affects the biodiversity on a global scale and current trends suggest that will be a continuing and growing demand for agricultural and wild products and ecosystem services which will require that all stakeholders in agriculture and nature protection need to reconsider the relationship between agriculture production and conservation of biodiversity. In the paper strengths and weaknesses of agriculture, nature protection and biodiversity in South-Eastern European countries discussed at the workshop of the BE-NATUR Conference and the first Higher KOS Training were analyzed. Conclusions agreed among participants were that it’s important to educate consumers and producers, that agriculture can contribute the nature protection and that knowledge exchange is important and useful for all stakeholders.
