Investigation of Oxide Superconductor Ca2BiSrCu2Ox

We have prepared a new member of series of oxide superconductors Ca-Sr-Bi-Cu-O from nominal composition Ca2BiSrCu2Ox. Heat treatment at 840 C results in the compound with Tc 85 K (L-phase) while heat treatment at 880 C leads to the majority phase which undergoes the transition to superconducting (SC) state at Tc 117 K (H-phase). One bismuth atom per unit formula suggests the onset of SC in a single Bi-O layers in contrast to usual Ca-Sr-Bi-Cu-O superconductors known so far.
