Academic Surroundings: Equality of Potential in Micro and Macroacademic Surroundings
Living in the 21th century is determined a great deal that we live in the globalised world. Globalization is incorporated in every sphere of our lives such as in the academic life, as well. But, the question is: «Did globalization bring potential for equality of academic surroundings throughout the world?» Each of academic employees could reflect on this topic from his point of view and life. The analysis should start from the microacademic surrounding. The walk through academic lifetime requires certain obligatory conditions for professional and scientific advance. Those conditions vary in a great deal from one microacademic surrounding to another (medicine, humanities, social sciences etc.) in one country, for example, the obligation of publishing varies from the obligation to publish in domestic journals or obligation to publish in international journals or obligation to publish in the international journals with exact minimal impact factor. If we narrow the micro surroundings in the field of biomedicine, for example, the obligations are the same for those who work only in the academic institutions as for those who have cumulative working condition (academics plus clinic). Macroacademic surroundings dictate the pace and conditions of academic life worldwide. The possibilities to participate in the international symposia depend in a great deal on the amount of the registration fee. The publishing fee in certain journals presents a great obstacle in the opportunity for publishing. The mentioned examples point out that real academic surroundings in globalised academic world has not reached yet the point with equal abilities and equality of opportunity for most academic members. The work in the micro and macro academic surroundings is threatened to become the tool for «doping» the academic success without the positive consequences on real life.
