How do I 'unjumbel' this? Study of EFL teachers' competences and preferences in teaching students with dyslexia
Current status in Croatian primary schools is highly intricate, due to the fact that teaching process and its adjustment do not solely rely on teachers. Time restrictions, poor working conditions, caused by lack of materials and pre-determined curriculum frames, are setbacks to individual teaching process. Teacher education, enabling teaching professionals to work with students with special needs, is part of a solution to a problem indicated by moderate results achieved on all three subscales. Assigned scope of matter intended to be covered in a period of one lesson does not take into account the differences related to class nor does it provide teachers with clear instructions or any other kind of support in teaching students with special needs. It is our hope this research will mark the step towards ensuring better conditions for students with dyslexia and their teachers.
