Potential of Cloud Computing in the Transport Sector

By introducing and implementing initiatives and measures, the European Commission strongly encourages adoption of cloud concept in transport. Cloud computing is a widely applicable technology concept used in many sectors. The application of cloud computing in the transport sector offers many benefits for private small and medium enterprises and public companies and more efficient and transparent transport service to the user. This research will provide an overview of benefits provided by the implementation of cloud computing technology in the transport sector and a conceptual scheme of a specialized Cloud for Transport and integrated services.

This research has been carried out as part of the project “Evaluation of Existing Systems to Support Sharing of Information to Carpooling Users based on Cloud Computing” (No. 303-02/17- 01/19, 995-14) supported by the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, Programme for Research, 2017.
