Experimental analysis of market demand influence on greenhouse gas emissions in supply chains
Supply chains have significant environmental impact due to use of resources and waste and emissions generation from processes of production and transport. This paper analyses correlation between market demand, inventory management and environmental influence of product deliveries in supply chain. Simulation experiments done in this paper assume periodic review inventory model with an (R, s, S) policy which is a standard for most of modern companies and high level of satisfying the market demand. Results imply that supply chains can optimize their operational decisions in order to contribute to greenhouse gas emissions reduction without jeopardizing the level of satisfying the market demand.
