Rapid detection of genotoxins and genotoxic potentials of marine environmental samples

Objectives of the project are acute genotoxicity testing of environmental sea water and sediment samples using SOS/umu test, comparation with different standards and mixture of genotoxic substances, discrimination between genotoxic and cytotoxic effects, recognition of potential spectroscopic shifting caused by coloured samples, and determination of the potential inhibitors of SOS repair system in Salmonella typhimurium (TA1535/pSK1002) bacterial strain which may cause false negative results in testing of environmental samples.
