Skradin Children: Longitudinal Study of Post- Traumatic Reactions
The danger of explosive devices is present everywhere in the world, especially for children. After the accident of three boys (the death of one and another serious injury of another boy), students of lower grades of elementary school were provided with treatment to help express their feelings. Research techniques include twelve drawings, Six-Part Story Making and questions about friendship, unknown, end, and death, writing a farewell letter to a dead friend, and making a poster about the threat of a lethal weapon. The first part of the research was related to the time immediately after the event and three and eleven months after the event, and the follow-up research was after three years. The results of both studies have shown that children, even four years after the event, have the same disturbing feelings that require adequate treatment for PTSD specialists. Adequate education of child-care experts and the necessary assistance to children facing the traumatic consequences of their mental health and improving coping resources are needed.
