Women in the Labor Market in the Republic of Croatia
To the beginning of the 20th century women experienced difficulties in labor force participation considering the complexity of the economic structure, women`s level of education and the social relationships. At the time when women succeed in the labor market participation for which women already have acquired the routine in their households. Industrialization has increased the labor force participation by women, mostly in the textile industry and in the new service sector jobs. Today women are much more involved in the educational processes at all levels and they occupy more important work places, so they become equal in some segments with men. Although the share of educated women has increased, social changes have happened and some anti-discrimination laws have been adopted, significant market discrimination is still seen (which is confirmed with the inability of women`s hierarchical progession in the labor market and lower pays for the same jobs in comparison with men).
