Facing new frontiers in biotechnology
Classical biotehnology processes like manufacture of fermented foods and beverages have been a part of our civilization for thousands of years. Today^, s biotechnology grew out of industrial microbiology developed in 20th century for production of tradicional products like etanol, vinegar, baker^, s yeast, beer and other alchocolic beverages but also for novel products like antibiotics, amino acids, and other organic compounds. It is not surprising that the discovery of the DNA structure and the establishment of the central dogma did not change only our way of seeing the living matter, but also pointed out the biotechnology as one of most promising technology of the future. Molecular genetics was indentified as a powerful tool that will be used to modify genetics information in order to control cellular processes
