Ammonia from dairy barns as air contaminant

This paper describe influence of ammonia from dairy barn air on near environment. Research was taken out in one barn with 15 dairy cows, which represent small farming what is the most often form of dairy cows breeding in Republic Croatia. Air was sampling by Dräger - Multivarn II device (Dräger, Darmstadt, Deutschland). Measurements were done during two autmn moonths, in three time terms (morning, noon, evening) by sampling air in barn and outside. Simultaneously were measured air temperature, relative humidity and air velocity with TESTO 400 – GmbH & Co device. Determined concentration of ammonia in barn air was in all three measure terms under allowed concentratrion, and in the outside air was in 99 % cases under device detection limit. Obtained results suggest conclusion that ammonia concentration in small farming barn air do not represent source of environmental pollution.
