Spontaneous perirenal and subcapsular haematoma - report of 5 cases
Spontaneous perirenal and subcapsular haemorrhage is a rare but important clinical codition and is diagnostically very challenging. We present a series of 5 patients with perirenal and subcapsular bleeding. In 2 the initial CT suggested AML and renal cyst as the cause of bleeding that was confirmed by pathological analyzes. In other 3 pts no pathology other than haematoma itself was visualized on CT scans. In literature in as many as 50% of cases a malignant tumour is found. With new imaging modalities the patients with bleeding due to benign diseases should be recognized and unnecessary nephrectomies avoided.
